The society currently has two boats, a Albin Express and a J/80, which will be presented below. But through our members, and in contact with other sailing societies, many opportunities to participate in other events usually arise, involving sailing everything between dinghys and ships! One example is the annual Swedish Student Championship in sailing, Gothenburg Student Race, held with CB66 Racers down in the river downtown (Read more about that Here).
Vitesse, the Albin Express, is the oldest of our boats and has been in the society since the beginning of the ’80s. This boat type is slightly below 8 meters long and quite easy as well as pleasant to sail, which makes it one of the most popular and common boat types in Swedish regattas. The Express also has a spacious cabin for its size and can accommodate up to 4 persons – perfect for over-night stays and longer sailing trips!
The 12.5 mWs is our newest boat, purchased in 2014. She is of the American boat type J/80 and is also 8 meters long but has a low weight, which makes her more of a sportsboat and the sailing can be much more intense if the winds are strong enough. During these conditions it is also possible to get the boat on the plane downwind when using the large gennaker! The cockpit is also quite large which enables having more people on board for courses or excursions. This, on the other hand, makes the cabin small – so one should be prepared for really cosy nights when using all of the four bunks on-board.
